Music & Lyrics by Matthew Millin
Book by Emily Mayo
Years after the fall of Troy, the spirit of Patroclus still remains on the battlefield, having received no proper burial to allow him passage to the underworld. He must tell the story of his life with Achilles to convince Thetis, Achilles’ mother, that they are worth reuniting in death. Through Patroclus’ eyes, we see the world of Homer’s Iliad; we see some of the most famous Greek mythical figures like Odysseus, Agamemnon, and Thetis herself; and we see Achilles, the boy Patroclus loved. Following Achilles and Patroclus from the innocence of their youth through the brutality of the Trojan War, The Song of Achilles is a beautiful and human coming-of-age romance caught in the middle of an epic tale.
